Sports Tours in Bruges

Touristy, overcrowded and a tad fake. Preface any other city with these descriptions and it would be struck off the list. But not Bruges (Brugge in Flemish, Bruges in French). This Flemish city is Belgium's most popular destination and, despite being overrun much of the year, it's not to be missed.

Due to the popularity there are some excellent, low-cost places to stay in the heart of the city centre, which for us makes Bruges, Belgium on a budget.

Like neighbours Gent, if you are hear on a senior Rugby Tour, sporting achievement is not what you are looking for. Worry not, what the Belgians lack on the Rugby pitch, they look forward to reciprocating lessons in hospitality off it. With clubs around Bruges and towards Brussels aplenty, we have many great clubs to pitch you with.

Youth Rugby and Football is ideal here. Tournaments & full-fixtures are readily available. Nearby Gent hosts an excellent Easter Rugby Tournament, while there are two superb youth football tournaments in May each year.

Suspended in time centuries ago, Bruges is now one of Western Europe's most-visited medieval cities. Picturesque market squares, dreamy canals and old whitewashed almshouses all evoke a world long since gone. But its reputation as one of the most perfectly preserved cities is in part fabrication. Bruges has been renovated time and again to retain its medieval appearance. Whereas what you see reflects that of centuries ago, much of the architecture dates only from the 19th and 20th centuries.

However, the 'action' takes place in the streets in and around the old centre of the city - around every corner there is an inviting bar tempting you to indulge in the excellent Belgian beers. Live Music pours out onto the streets long into the night, and the cheery barman won't shut up shop until you are ready to head to bed.

Belgian Rugby has often been in the shadow of it's neighbours Holland. However, the decline of the Dutch has coincided with a boom in Belgium.

Many end of season tournaments attract clubs from across Europe for the excellent welcome and friendly atmosphere. We have contacts in a wide variety of clubs across Belgium, and look forward to arranging tour matches with them.
