Sports Tours in The Isle of Man

Our Touring options on the Isle of Man are born out of our own experiences. After visiting the island both in a Rugby Playing and a tourist capacity, we were blown away on both occasions.

The island possesses some of the most stunning countryside around, the people are sports mad while the town's are friendly, welcoming and full of fun. The place is ideal for an active youth tour, or a socially focused adult tour.

For a Rugby Tour, the Island has it all. From thriving youth sections, to competitave girls and womens teams and good social senior teams there are plenty of options. Vagabonds RFC, the Island's strongest club have recently moved to a superb new site near Douglas - a great place to play a tour match.

Head inland, and it is altogether different. The rugged rolling landscape offers a paradise of activity, and some low-cose hideways that are superb for youth groups on a budget.

Where will we stay?

You will be based in a 3* Hotel on the Promenade in the Island's capital of-Douglas. From here you can fall out of the front door onto the beach and the busy Victorian Promenade, both of which will offer plenty to see and do throughout your stay.

Douglas itself is a slightly tired looking Victorian coastal town with all the features you would expect. A long and grand Promenade houses many hotels, pubs, restaurants and tourist attractions. The city is safe and relaxed, and has a real sense of local pride to it, something you will get used to during your stay.

In the late spring, during the light evening's, a beach run, or something like touch rugby or 5-a-side will be a great wind down to the day, and a good way to tire out teenage lads!
The Island is sport crazy. So much so that three Rugby clubs make weekly pil-grimages across to England to partake in the Cheshire/Lancashire leagues. The largest club on the Island is the World Famous Vagabonds RFC, who have re-cently moved to an exceptional new venue just outside of Douglas. For years they have hosted touring teams of all ages with aplomb, and we are pleased to say that we have a great working link with the club. Both themselves, Douglas RFC and the Western Vikings have thriving youth sections who will be delighted to host you on your tour.
Mainlanders have long suspected the Isle of Man (Ellan Vannin in Manx) of be-ing an odd place, full of weird island folk and their quirky ways. As 'evidence' they'll point to the island's reputation as a tax haven for wealthy Brits and its summer season of Tourist Trophy (TT) motorbike racing, which every May and June attracts around 50, 000 petrol heads. Hardly case closed.
Chances are that those same mainlanders have never actually seen the lush valleys, barren hills and rugged coastlines of what is a surprisingly beautiful is-land. The Island is home to the world's oldest continuous parliament, the Isle of Man enjoys special status in Britain, and its annual parliamentary ceremony honours the thousand year history of the Tynwald (a Scandinavian word mean-ing 'meeting field'
