Sports Tours in Den Haag

Walking into Den Haag is like stepping through a Hans Christian Anderson book. A visit to the town of any kind is a real treat. The ancient capital city of the Netherlands offers so much more to the tourist than the more popular newer capital city up the road.

Den Haag is Holland without the headaches. For youth groups, Amsterdam is not ideal, and The Hague, located just an hour away is an ideal location for a Dutch Sports Tour. That's not to say there isn't enough going on in the evening to keep older teams entertained as well.

With Holland being a small country, you can travel around easily. Sports fixtures and tournaments are available both in the Den Haag area, but visits to Amsterdam, Utrecht, Noordwijk and Rotterdam are all within easy access.

You will stay in an excellent Hostel in the city centre. They have comfortable rooms, a great bar and put together an ideal breakfast. From Den Haag, the beach resort of Scheveningen is only a 10-minute bus ride away.

As soon as you step into the city, you are met with style and class in abundance. The winding cobbled streets are enclosed with grand architecture, and generally lead to a stunning square surrounded with cafes, bars and restaurants spilling out into the open space. Keep an eye open for the Binenhof, the Grote Kirk, Hofvijer Square and the Government & Law Buildings; they have massive potential as the back-drop to your next Facebook profile picture.

Pubs & Clubs are in abundance, areas such as the Grote Markt, Buitenhof & the Nieuwe Kirk are full up. In particular, keep an eye open for The Fiddler near the Grote Kirk - this is one of the best pubs we found in Holland, and kept us happy for most of our recent stay! Once you're looking for some food, you can't go wrong in China Town, just a short walk from all the above. You have numerous options at all sorts of prices.

How do we get to Den Haag?

Getting to Den Haag is fantastically easy. For teams travelling from the South of England, after a short hop between Dover & Dunkirk on a DFDS/Norfolk Like ferry, it takes little over 2 ½ hours to breeze up the motorway to the Hague. From the north, we highly recommend an overnight trip on the DFDS ferry between Newcastle & Amsterdam. We have a great relationship with DFDS thanks to the number of teams travelling to Holland & Belgium from the north in 2011, we can therefore include crossings at a fraction of the public price. On board, you are entertained by Live Music & Cabaret aplenty, the bar stays open until everyone goes to bed, shops and restaurants are on hand to keep you fed, and when you wake up, you will be arriving into the Port of Ijmuiden. Then, from here, it is just over an hour to Den Haag.

Where will we be staying?

Throughout Holland, we work with a highly praised chain of quality Hostels. We cannot recommend them highly enough to our travelling clients. Although basic, the rooms are very comfortable and have private en-suite bathrooms. All Hostels have a late opening bar, serve a cracking continental breakfast, offer Pool & Football Tables, Nintento Wii's, and if there is a big sports match on, their large TV's will undoubtedly have it on. The staff are friendly, helpful and help create a great atmosphere - it is definitely worth asking them for recommendations for where to go in Den Haag, they'll be pleased to help. In a nutshell, if there were places built to host sports tours, these would be it.
