Sports Tours in Tuscany
The central Italian province of
Tuscany is one of our newest and most exciting destinations. The
area encapsulates some of the highlights of Italy, and is reputedly
the best place in Italy for wine, food and believe it or not, magic
water.
Options in the province are
endless. If you are after a city slicker tour, we couldn't
recommend Siena highly enough. Often overshadowed by the artists
paradise that is Florence in northern Tuscany, Siena is pure, less
spoilt and dare we say it, much more Italian. That's not to say a
day trip to the home of Michelangelo's David and the Uffizi gallery
isn't worth it!
Medieval Siena is centred on the
shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, the annual venue of one of Italy's
iconic horse races, the Palio. Held in August, ten of the cities
seventeen districts enters a jockey decked out in their proud
colours, to ride a horse around the city's square amidst the
thousands of impassioned spectators displaying all the tradition
and pomp and circumstance you could wish to see.
