Sports Tours in Westport
We like to think of Westport as our
'off-the-beaten-track' destination in New Zealand. In comparison to
the other tour bases in the country, it is certainly the one that
raises eyebrows. A visit to the area on the north-western coast of
the southern island can be called a discovery of the Real New
Zealand.
Visitors are encouraged to join in
the slow-pace of life here, switch off mobile-phones, leave their
watches at home and enjoy their very own slice of heaven. Rugged
coastlines, stunning beaches and an old rugby culture will await
you here.
Highlights of a tour to
Westport:
- Beachside Accommodation
- Underworld White Water Rafting along the Nile River Canyon
- A local Rugby Legend as your tour guide
- Punakaiki Blowholes
- Visit to the Franz Josef Glacier
The Buller Rugby Union is one the
smallest of the six regions that make up the Canterbury Crusaders
Super 14 franchise. Responsible for 1000 players in the north-west
area of the south island, the union was founded way back in
1894.
The port town of Westport and home
of the Buller Union, is the largest centre of the Northern West
Coast and the perfect starting point for exploring the region's
heritage and scenery.
