Sports Tours in Edinburgh

Exceptional Edinburgh sits atop our list as the #1 Sports Tour destination in the UK. The city is as exciting as it is beautiful, and offers sports groups of all ages highlight after highlight.

Over the years, we have hosted a wide-range of teams in Edinburgh. From adult rugby groups endulging at the end of the season, to youth groups travelling north of the border for a tough Rugby challenge. Most recently, we hosted an U18 rugby team from Texas in the city. Having spent a few days in Newcastle, The Woodlands RFC headed north to catch the 6 Nations match between Scotland and Italy. This was after meeting the home side at Murrayfield on the Friday as they finalised their preparations.

Edinburgh is loaded with sports clubs, our experience and contacts up here are wide ranging and long standing. We can plan anything from a social trip to some serious Rugby.

For young and old alike, there are itinerary fillers galore to consider for your tour. From Stadium Tours at Murrayfield to Paintballing and Ghost Tours, and from nights out in the Irish Bars of the Haymarket to a Tour of the Whisky Museum we have many options waiting for you.

Accommodation

In Edinburgh, we swear by our two accommodation options in the city. Just like the city itself, they host groups of all ages perfectly. We work with two recently built 5* Hostels in Edinburgh, both of which are located in the heart of the city centre making an early morning stroll up the Royal Mile easy. Their 5* rating makes them comparable to most 3* Hotels in the city, with their value for money subsequently being second to none. You can expect to find comfortable and secure en-suite rooms that can sleep 2, 4, 6 or 8 people at a time. Hotel-style twin rooms are available for group leaders, coaches and older members of the group upon request. Both Hostels serve exceptional breakfasts, they offer guests a late-opening bar, WIFI access and a wealth of information about the city.

How to get to Edinburgh

Edinburgh is realistically accessible by road on one of our executive coaches from anywhere north of Manchester. For teams travelling from further afield, there are several options we would recommend over travelling by bus. We are delighted to have developed a great relationship with East Coast Rail, which means we can offer our clients direct train tickets into the heart of Edinburgh for a fraction of the public rates. From London, incredibly you can be at Edinburgh in under 5 hours, at a price that is comparable to hiring a coach. Once you are into the station, both our Hostels are within easy walking distance - even if you have a weekends worth of kit over your shoulder. Through our ATOL provider, we are also able to arrange flights with budget and scheduled airlines into Edinburgh Airport. Tour Tales from Edinburgh

In October 2010, Abbey Gate College, a developing Rugby playing School from Chester, headed north on an action packed weekend in Scotland. During the weekend, the boys played two matches, one of which against Scottish Premiership Club Boroughmuir on the incredible floodlit main pitch at Meggetland. The team watched Ulster beat Edinburgh in the Celtic League at Murrayfield, were put through their paces by a top-class local coach, got to shoot their teachers to bits at a Paintball Park near the city and got to know the darker side of Edinburgh on a terryfying ghost tour of the old town. This was the School's first ever Rugby Tour and we were delighted help make it such a success.

This past nine days has been tremendous. We have achieved everything we wanted to accomplish. We didn't set out to come to Scotland and bounce around and play rugby now and then, we wanted a full package where the girls had Rugby, Activities, Scottish Culture and Heritage and everything has fit quite nicely.

The Rugby Experience has been more than we could have asked for. We cannot complain about any of the Rugby parts of the tour. The games we have played, the paces we have practised and the coaching from Pro Players has been fantastic.

To come over here and have that experience, especially from the girls perspective has been fantastic.

From the start, we really liked the fluidity of working with Sky High Sports. Nothing was set in stone, and as time went on the package developed and your recommendations and ideas made it a perfect Scottish Experience.

I would not hesitate to recommend Sky High Sports to anyone who runs a Sports Team or Club, everything was just spot on which meant I could enjoy the tour as much as everyone else.

I am writing to you because I feel it necessary to inform you of the fantastic work you have done in order to send my U14's rugby team to Edinburgh during October half-term 2010.  Your company were excellent in every department, from the prior organisation to the final travel arrangements.

I was very surprised at the quick response to an email I sent you when requesting a quote for 26 boys.  The costing was very competitive and I had no choice but to go with your company, especially after a telephone conversation shortly after the quote, when I said to myself "this company is very enthusiastic and professional."

Our tour of Edinburgh could not have gone any smoother, the pupils loved the paintballing and ghost tour but when I mentioned they were going to watch Edinburgh Vs Ulster at Murrayfield Stadium, (which I had kept from them during the build up to the tour) their jaws dropped.  They thoroughly enjoyed every second of the match and did not stop speaking about it for the rest of the night.

The two games we played could not have been pitched any better, with only a few points between the final scores of both our matches; they made for a splendid spectacle.  Many of our players positively commented on the referees, our players felt they developed their overall game play and even introduced them to new laws.

Finally, congratulations on a superb tour, your help during the trip with invaluable and I look forward to organising our next tour with you in two years.
