Sports Tours in Glasgow

Why should we go to Glasgow when Edinburgh is so close? The question that Glaswegians will hate to here is one that is often brought up between us and our clients.

Well, why should you? Glasgow has a 'bad-lad-done-good' sort of atmosphere, the city oozes a type of confidence that only comes with a new pair of shoes. The city is washing away its dreary industrial past at dizzying speed. The grand & wide boulevards that crisscross the city are filled with places to explore and visit.

For every traditional city pub and Greasy Spoon in the city, there is a Prosecco Bar and an Espresso Cafe to match. The city certainly keeps its feet on the ground, but dabbles with a bit of the high life in an outstanding manner. The city comes alive at night, with endless cellar bars from the cheap to the cocktail, most of them offering outstanding live music in a way that is rarely seen across the UK.

As with anywhere in Scotland, the welcome is friendly and sincere. The tartan tat you find on the streets of the 'other' Scottish City is replaced by what locals would call the real Scotland.

Useful Information

Glasgow has a huge Italian and Irish influence on the city. The centre of town is filled with Italian Restaurants & Cafe's and Irish Bars. All of this makes for a cracking atmosphere during the weekends and at night. We highly recommend starting any night at the Merchant Square, the refurbished market place now lined with excellent watering holes. From here, you can head to Argyle Street or Buchanan Street to find as many options as you wish. For the demanding nightowl, head up the hill to Bath Street for some style in the excellent cellar bars. If you are lost, simply follow the crowds of folk heading up Buchanan Street in this direction.

Accommodation

We have several options for accommodation in Glasgow. For younger groups, we cannot look beyond the purpose built youth hostel and budget hotel we work with in the city. In both you can expect to find comfortable bunk-rooms, all of which are private and have excellent en-suite bathrooms; a fantastically secure and safe environment; a great breakfast and a location that can give you the best access to the city centre attractions.

For older groups, or for those on a larger budget, there is a range of 3* Hotels of the Ibis, Novotel, Holiday Inn nature in the city. Depending on dates and availability, all will offer a more than suitable base for your tour to Glasgow.

How do we get to Glasgow?

Glasgow is located an hour west of Edinburgh, and 90 minutes north of Carlisle. The city is easily accessible from the North-West of England up the M6, and from the east via the A1 to Edinburgh. The city has two of Scotlands busiest airports, and due to it's nature as a business city, flights can be picked up from across the UK for next to nothing. There are also two train stations within the city centre, which is yet another option. Virgin Rail are the main provider of services from the west. Contact us to find out more.

Glasgow is Perfect for:

Senior teams who have toured to places like Newcastle and Edinburgh in the past and are looking for a city with great nightlife and good sport. Teams looking to focus there tour around the night time activity. Youth teams looking to tie in their tour matches with a Celtic League match. Teams staying in Scotland for a 10-14 day tour.
