Sports Tours in The Scottish Highlands

Beyond Edinburgh and into the Great Glens, Scotland stretches away in a spectacular fusion of wooded glens, sweeping moors, rugged coasts, towering mountains and welcoming villages making the area one of the most stunning landscapes on earth.

A visit to the Highlands will form an essential part of any longer stay to Scotland. A superb contrast to Edinburgh, the area offers a rural adventure like no-other.

During our tours up here, we can stay in an ancient Highland Castle near Inverness, or head west to the beautiful coastal town of Oban. Both are ideal, and chosen depending on the time of your visit.

Itineraries are similar. Imagine racing down a White Water Gorge in the hills, or Coasteering along the rugged shores near Oban. When you step out of the big cities and into the rural landscape, you get a feeling that you have found the real Scotland.

Cruising along the Scottish Lochs, visiting some famous Whisky Distillieries and even partaking in your very own Highland Games Contest, a visit to the Highlands is due to be special.

How to get to the Highlands?

A visit to the Highlands can rarely be done without a long journey. Although it is inevitably worth it once you arrive, no-one wants to spend half of the tour sat in a bus winding through the countryside. For teams travelling from southern England and Wales, we would recommend a flight to either Inverness of Edinburgh, followed by a bus journey to the destination. For teams not travelling so far, the East Coast mainline continues North form Edinburgh, through Perth, Aviemore and onto Inverness. Aviemore is only 90 minutes north of Edinburgh on the train, and 3 hours from Newcastle. Our great links with East Coast Rail means that we can include rock bottom train ticket prices in our tour packages.

What Can We Do?

This rugged wonderland is Scotland's playground. The Mountains, Lochs and Countryside play host to some excellent things to do. Whether it be kayaking, skiing, gorge walking, bushcraft our mountain biking, they are all excellent. The highlight though is our Highland Games Day. We can arrange for a Highland Games World Champion to visit you at your accommodation and put you through your paces in true Scottish fashion. You will learn to toss the Cabre, see how Tug o' War is really done and master Sheaf Tossing. An excellent afternoon's fun, and worth the long journey in itself.

The Highlands is the Perfect Place for:

A visit to the Highlands would be an essential part of any long stay in Scotland. It would compliment a stay in the big cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh immaculately and would also add a real outdoor element to the tour. For domestic teams, it would be difficult to justify the long journey when the Lake District in England is available.

However, if you are a team who wants to tour the unexpected, and experience some raw nature and good old fashioned fun, then this may be for you.

Rugby Tours to the Highlands

The Highlands will form the mid-part to any Rugby Tour to Scotland. Rugby is sparse in the area and a tour here would be an active contrast to city stays in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Stirling. However, fixtures and training will be available if required.

This past nine days has been tremendous. We have achieved everything we wanted to accomplish. We didn't set out to come to Scotland and bounce around and play rugby now and then, we wanted a full package where the girls had Rugby, Activities, Scottish Culture and Heritage and everything has fit quite nicely.

The Rugby Experience has been more than we could have asked for. We cannot complain about any of the Rugby parts of the tour. The games we have played, the paces we have practised and the coaching from Pro Players has been fantastic.

To come over here and have that experience, especially from the girls perspective has been fantastic.

From the start, we really liked the fluidity of working with Sky High Sports. Nothing was set in stone, and as time went on the package developed and your recommendations and ideas made it a perfect Scottish Experience.
