The Mother City of South Africa, first settled by the Dutch in the 1600's is a cosmopolitan mix of society that has a distinct European feel. From the Dutch mansions & farm steads, the Victorian and Edwardian results of British Rule and the modern day city centre skyscrapers all contribute greatly to this great melting pot of Africa.

Within Cape Town, considered South Africa's safest city, there are four main areas. The revitalised old Docklands is the modern-day home of the Covent-Garden style V&A Waterfront complex, a real social honey pot for tourists and locals alike. The Central commercial area with its upmarket shopping, museums and street markets is another popular haunt, and with the beach suburbs to the west of the area resembling smart British coastal resorts.

The inland suburbs to the south are of little interest to the tourist, but it is here where you will find Newlands, the home of major Sport in Cape Town. The Rugby and Cricket Stadia tower above the skyline and are an essential visit if there is a game in town. Further South is the glorious Constantia Valley, home of some of the best South African wine-growing country.
