Sports Tours in Costa del Sol

For many, the mere mention of the Costa Del Sol conjures up visions of suntanned bodies on the beach, luxurious hotels set in tropical gardens, glitzy marinas lined with millionaires yachts, lively restaurants and swinging discos.

The ambient cosmopolitan atmosphere in the modern day region is enjoying a boom thanks to the growing numbers of ex-pat communities in Torremolinos, Fuengirola and Marbella. Following the 1960's Spanish exodus from Britain, the area sank into decline, becoming dingy, tacky and tiresome. Combined with the determination of the locals and ex-pat communities, the area is once again filled with celebrities, glitz and glamour.

Highly recommended is the trip away from the white beaches and party filled streets.

The Spanish region of Andalucia is awash with stunning vistas and collections of marble white villages high in the hillsides. Seville, Cordoba and Granada are three cities that are not to be overlooked.

The South of Spain enjoys a year round sunny and warm climate. During the busy Summer months, temperatures rule out any chance of enjoying competitive sport, so we advise travel between March and May. Any time outside of December and February, expect a minimum of 8 hours sunshine a day, with the average temperature reaching 20C in the spring. The reduced demand for Hotels during this period can only mean bargain prices in some stylish residencies on the coastline.

You will be based in Torremolinos, one of the busier and bustling towns along the peaceful coastline. Located just 8km from Malaga airport, the onetime fishing village is centred around the Calle San Miguel. The artery-esque street is filled with souvenir shops, bars and restaurants, and proves to be a great starting point for both a day time exploration or the night time equivalent. For good food, we recommend a good walk westward along the Paseo Maritimo promenade to La Carihuela - an ancient fishing village with some famous restaurants and excellent beach bars.

The town is a playground of activity, with Watersports, Excursions and Day Trips aplenty available for all who visit. Highly recommended are the Deep Sea Fishing and Jet Ski hire centres that are littered across the beach.

The Costa is famed for its lively night scene, with an abundance of bars and clubs to suit every taste. There is a concentration of discos in Torremolinos, with glitzy bars found in Marbella and Puerto Banus. Opening times are flexible, but the action starts late, with little going on before midnight. Once things hot up, they seem to carry on well into the early hours. Prices vary greatly, we advise you shop around to ensure that you aren't ripped off on entry, having to pay through the nose for drinks all night.

With the large ex-pat community, many sports teams have flourished in recent years. Both Rugby and Football are commonplace across the Costa, with the focus pinned on fun and socialising. Expect a friendly match and a hearty welcome after the game. In all, Costa is a great destination for a party filled social tour this year.
