St Clair Colts Tour to Italy

posted on Monday, 30 May 11

St Clair Colts, an U18 High School Girls team from Sarnia, Ontario chose Italy as their destination for their Easter break tour in 2011. We love organising Italian Tours, and put on a fantastic 10-days for the team in Lake Como, Liguria, Tuscany and Rome.

With the regional championships waiting for them on their return, St Clair warmed up with a tournament against Rugby Monza, the Veneto Provincial team and a representative team from the Emilia-Romagna province. The team also caught the Italian Women's Rugby Final between Benetton Treviso and Riviera del Brenta.

A Cruise on Lake Como, shopping in Milan, Zip Wiring in the Alps, Pizza School, Gladiator Academy and a Thermal Spa visit made up the rest of the tour.

Our Italy Tour with Sky High Sports was "AWESOME". It was the perfect combination of Tourism, Sport & Culture for both the players & chaperones.

Thanks

Sheffield Examine Bruges

posted on Monday, 21 March 11

In March 2011, the Medics XV from Sheffield University headed onto the continent for a fantastic budget tour with Sky High Sports. We arranged ideal accommodation in the heart of the city, and lined two extremely competitave games up for the students, and we were delighted to hear their comments upon return.

We were put in touch with Sky High Sports by a friend. We received a quick, comprehensive and competitive quote which gave us options on destination, mode of travel and various levels of accommodation.    Having decided on Bruges, all the planning was left to our tour organiser Richie who found us superb hostel accommodation in the centre of Bruges and a fantastic coach driver who became part of the team for the weekend, all for a very reasonable price.

In addition he also found sought a competetive price on tour shirts which were of top quality and delivered well in advance of the tour.

Everything ran smoothly from collection in Sheffield, to crossing the channel and arriving at our destination on schedule.

We found Bruges to be a beautiful city and we found the Belgian people to be very welcoming.  The pubs provided great beers and at prices which were cheaper than expected (average €2.00) and good quality.

We were well received at both of our 2 matches, which were perfectly pitched at our level of Rugby.  Our hosts made us feel very at home with some complimentary drinks and post match presentations of ties and shirts.

We would recommend Sky High Sports for any student Rugby tour and we hope to tour with Richie's guidance again in the future!

Thanks for organising a great weekend!

Alnwick RFC's Twickenham date

posted on Sunday, 21 November 10

In November 2010, the U13s and U14s from Alnwick RFC in Northumberland boarded the train and headed to London ahead of their action packed tour to the Capital. They were met at Kings Cross by the bus bound for their activity centre accommodation in the stunning Surrey countryside.

Amidst Zip-Wiring, Climbing, Assault Courses and an adrenaline fuelled Giant Swing, the team played tough matches at Glyn School and Sutton & Epsom RFC, with the U13s and U14s both winning one and losing one. The undoubted highlight though was a visit to Twickenham to watch the England Vs Samoa match. Group leader Stephen Dickinson gives his thoughts on the tour below.

On behalf of my fellow coaches, the parents, players and I, I would like to thank you for your assistance in the organisation of our recent tour to Twickenham. The feedback from all who were on the trip has been that everyone had an absolutely fantastic time, and a truly memorable experience.

Everything ran like clockwork and your choice of accommodation was superb, it made the trip so much more enjoyable for the coaches and parents as the activities and staff at the PGL centre occupied the boys, never giving them an opportunity to get bored. This made our jobs so much easier and allowed us to relax and enjoy the tour without worrying about keeping the boys occupied and safe. I will strongly recommend it to anyone who is planning a mini, midi or youth rugby tour as it kept everyone happy.

Please pass on our thanks to Glyn School, Sutton and Epsom RFC and Epsom Coaches for being so accommodating. I know how difficult organising tour fixtures can be especially on non standard match days, so well done for finding these. I was very impressed by Sutton & Epsom As, but would fancy our chances in a return leg up north, after we had softened them up with our B team! Also great to see England win at Twickenham - something the boys will remember for years.

Eton Manor Tour to Bath & Gloucester

posted on Friday, 15 April 11

Eton Manor U15's travelled to Bath and Gloucester for an action packed weekend in the Spring. They trained with coaches from Bath RFC, saw the Bath 1st XV in training before having lunch with them in the clubhouse, watched the Bath Vs Harlequins match at the Rec, played in a 4-team tournament and finished off the tour with an action packed morning of paintball. An excellent tour in a superb location.

It is difficult to pick a highlight from our tour as everything from arrival at Bath to departing our Hotel in Gloucester as everything was excellent. The facilities available at the Hotel were superb, with everything available for the boys to do from swimming to golf & squash.

The Bath experience was wonderful and the boys good behaviour got them an invitation to return from the coach.

Sunday's Rugby was challenging but a good game that bought our the best in Eton Manor. The hospitality afterwards was good natured and welcoming with good food and plenty of it.

I would like to say many thanks to Sky High Sports.

The Woodlands vs Tynedale RFC

From Texas to the Geordie Shore

posted on Sunday, 20 March 11

The Woodlands RFC U18 team from Houston, Texas, landed at Newcastle Airport in March 2011. After a full-year of planning the team enjoyed a massively successful tour. On the pitch, highlights included a narrow victory over Newcastle Royal Grammar School, a great match at Scottish Border League Champions Tynedale Colts but a game at the famous Mansfield Park ground against Hawick RFC was a special experience.

The team benefitted from a coaching day with ex-Newcastle Falcons head coach Steve Bates, walked Hadrian's Wall, spent a day Curling with the England Curling team, watched the Scotland Rugby Team in training at Murrayfield before returning the next day to see them take on Italy in the Six Nations.

A fantastic tour, and one we were proud to organise.

The Woodlands went to England and Scotland over spring break and had an amazing experience. I would gladly recommend any team in the USA wanting to organise a tour in UK or Europe to contact Sky High Sports.

I know there are sometimes bad experiences so I can say that the company took very good care of us and I would gladly recommend using Sky High Sports. I know that we spent close to a year organising our tour but they came through on all commitments. Overall, I feel the tour was excellent.

We were delighted with your recommendation of Newcastle as a destination. Our experiences both in the city but in particular at the host clubs were the highlight of our tour.

Abbey Gate 'do' Edinburgh

posted on Saturday, 23 October 10

In October, Abbey Gate College, a private school from Chester, took their U14 Rugby Team to Edinburgh on a full-filled tour of the Scottish Capital. They saw Edinburgh take on Ulster at Murrayfield, got their own back on their teachers on the Paintball field, got to know Edinburgh by way of Ghost Tour, played a tour match on a Premiership pitch and stayed at one of our excellent city centre 5* Hostels. We look forward to working with them again soon!

I am writing to you because I feel it necessary to inform you of the fantastic work you have done in order to send my U14's rugby team to Edinburgh during October half-term 2010.  Your company were excellent in every department, from the prior organisation to the final travel arrangements.

I was very surprised at the quick response to an email I sent you when requesting a quote for 26 boys.  The costing was very competitive and I had no choice but to go with your company, especially after a telephone conversation shortly after the quote, when I said to myself "this company is very enthusiastic and professional."

Our tour of Edinburgh could not have gone any smoother, the pupils loved the paintballing and ghost tour but when I mentioned they were going to watch Edinburgh Vs Ulster at Murrayfield Stadium, (which I had kept from them during the build up to the tour) their jaws dropped.  They thoroughly enjoyed every second of the match and did not stop speaking about it for the rest of the night.

The two games we played could not have been pitched any better, with only a few points between the final scores of both our matches; they made for a splendid spectacle.  Many of our players positively commented on the referees, our players felt they developed their overall game play and even introduced them to new laws.

Finally, congratulations on a superb tour, your help during the trip with invaluable and I look forward to organising our next tour with you in two years.
